Fluorescence Sensing of Some Important Nitroaromatic Compounds by Using Polyaniline Ag Composite

Conducting polymers (CPs) have contributed significantly to the field of sensing. The sensing nitroaromatic compounds by fluorescence has recently gained more attention due its sensitivity and selectivity. In this study, polyaniline (PANI) was functionalized forming a polyaniline-Ag (PANI-Ag) composite used as fluorophore for nitro groups present in (NACs) such 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (picric acid-TNP) Dinitrobenzene (DNB) act electron-accepting molecules quench polymer chains showing an amplified quenching effect which trace amounts NACs emissions several units. PANI-Ag synthesized interfacial polymerization analyzed using UV-vis spectroscopy Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) determination molecular structure; X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) scanning electron microscopy (SEM/EDAX) morphology, is cubic crystalline silver; thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) thermal stability. mechanism deduced from Stern–Volmer plot. constant value (Ksv) obtained (S–V) plot found be Ksv = 0.1037 × 106 M−1 (TNP) 0.161 104 (DNB). shows single with formation exciplex complex TNP photoinduced transfer (PET) mechanism. limit detection (LOD) 5.58 10−7 M, whereas DNB 23.30 10−6 M that potential levels.
